Weekend Wrap-Up: These mosquito bites were so worth it

I’ve been looking forward to this past weekend for the majority of the summer. Me waiting for Friday was pretty similar to a kid waiting for their birthday. 4 p.m. came and I was out the door, bag packed and dog in the car. We met up with my boyfriend and together we all headed north for a weekend of camping with his family.

Wilderness. Wilderness everywhere.

This was my first camping trip of the season – I was excited to sleep in a tent and eat food off of a fire and chill in the woods. But then our air mattress had a hole in it and there was a fire ban because it hadn’t rained in forever and I spent way more time chasing around the little kids than chilling in the woods.

And you know what?

I. Loved. It.

Sleeping on the ground builds character (so I’ve been told). Someone thought ahead and brought a propane fire pit (everyone else was soooo jealous). Those kids made my weekend (although I think they just hung out with me to get to my dog).

It was so nice to unplug for a weekend and just play. My phone spent the weekend in my car. Technology was not invited on this trip. I didn’t even take my camera out (perhaps a slightly poor choice). I only snapped three photos, all of which were in the car on the way up. Here’s one of Jasper’s face peeking over the seat barrier, watching Luc drive…

Where are you taking meeeeeee?

So, how was your weekend?

I’m glad to see that you had a lovely weekend. I love being able to go camping. My family used to go all the time. We would spend hours out on the boat and come back to the campsite and fire up the grill. It was perfect! I have so many memories from my family camping trips.

If I’m being honest, this wasn’t just my first camping trip of the season, it was my first one in years (if you exclude cottage trips which, let’s be real, aren’t really camping). I forgot how much I love it!
