Now for something a bit different

Not different in a visionary sense, just different for me:

That’s right, my friends – I’ve decided to start messing around with some video content.

I’ve been playing with this idea for a long time and I finally decided to stop over thinking it and just do it already. This may not be something I stick with over the long term but then again, it might. Won’t know until I try!

All of this isn’t to say that I’m going to stop the written component of They Call it Gumption (no, I’m far to enamoured with words to do that) but I do like the way some of the bloggers that I love sometimes use video content to beef up their posts (Life After Bagels and Blogilates to name a couple) so I thought I’d give it a try. Also, as I mention in the video, I sometimes find myself wondering if there’s more I could do to give you guys a better idea of who you’re dealing with and I think this might be a good place to start.

All in all, I’m hoping that this project will be a fun way to add a little somethin’ somethin’ to this place while also giving me the chance to get to know you guys a bit better and maybe also improve my video makin’ skills.

We shall see.

And, because we’re talking YouTube and vloggers and such, I also thought it would be fun to link up some of my favourite YouTubers for you guys to check out:

Meghan Tonjes (mentioned in the video above), John and Hank Green aka The Vlogbrothers (John, also mentioned in the video above. If you like their stuff be sure to also check out their projects Crash Course and SciShow), Mike Falzone, and Charlie McDonnell aka Charlie is So Cool Like.

That’s a pretty small list but it’s a starting point! Now, tell me some of YOUR favourite vloggers/Youtubers in the comments!

Oh, and if you’re feeling so inclined, I wouldn’t object to you subscribing either :)

Excellent idea! It’s great that we have all these different ways of communicating and sharing ideas…and just having a little fun!

My fiancĂ© Joe has fun making videos; here’s one explaining flat tax…a potentially boring topic, but not when it’s told through a story about a hippo, a rhino and a chicken :)
Oh, and it’s narrated by me :)

Looking forward to your next video!

Hey Sara, saw this on Facebook! such a good and fun idea – I think starting off once a week is a good start to get a good rhythm of how you vlog and how your content flows etc.

Keep us posted on everything and if you ever wanna talk nerd about youtube / video things etc. This type of stuff is defiantly an interest of mine and I have a close friend who’s also thinking of getting into the youtube business so always interested in the back stories and thinking.

Hope all is well and this wasn’t too random!

    Cheers,

    Andy

A comment from you is never too random, Andy. I’m always down for talking nerdy YouTube/social media things so if we ever get the chance, let’s do it!
